How To Plan A Wedding
So you’ve finally found true love? Find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with is one of the most wonderful things that will happen in your life, and planning your wedding can also be a great experience. But depending on how you go about it wedding planning can also be very stressful indeed, so here are some tips on how to plan a great wedding.
How Long Does It Take To Plan A Wedding?
The first thing you need to do is to sit down and talk to your partner about what kind of wedding ceremony you’d like. This can be one of the biggest causes of stress and conflict between engaged couples, with each having their own idea of what is the ‘perfect’ wedding, so if you can thrash it out and start on the same page then you’ll be in for a much smoother ride.
The next thing you MUST do is to set a budget. Be realistic - so many couples end up with huge problems when it comes to funding their wedding so make sure you both know from the outset what your limit is. Weddings can be expensive things - make sure you plan carefully and set budgets for each aspect of your wedding day (eg venue, entertainment, stationery, favours etc). The more detail you can go into at this stage the easier it will be to keep to your budget later as you’ll have fewer unexpected surprises with things you didn’t plan for.
Learn how to handle the family. There will be lots of people on both sides who’ll want their say and want to ‘help’ and the last thing you want to do is to upset anyone or make them feel left out. But at the end of the day this is your wedding so just make it known in the family that you want to make the final decisions. That doesn’t mean, of course, that there aren’t plenty of areas where friends and family can help out and advise, and it’s a good idea to encourage them to do so as they’ll feel involved in the whole planning process.
